I am a little out of touch with British politics. Is Gordon really the ideal candidate to become prime minister?

Will he be as good a PM as Hugh Grant is in Love Actuallly? (I saw this on the weekend because I am a huge Alan Rickman fan... but I found myself really hedging toward Hugh especially the way his jacket flowed when he walked out in search of Martine McCutcheon's character... Funny, it just kind of caught my eye)
